5 Ticket Types and How To Use Them
There’s a lot that goes in to hosting a successful event and the way you set up your ticket types can certainly have an effect on the way customers approach buying tickets to your event. Here is a breakdown of 5 different ticket types and how to use them.
1) General Admission
GA is the most common ticket type offered for an event. This ticket type refers to your most standard entry level admission and includes no extra perks or add-ons. These types of tickets are typically the first to go on sale and are usually the least expensive. Use general admission as your baseline ticket type for customers who aren’t looking a VIP experience.
2) VIP
VIP ticket types are more expensive than GA and typically offer a premium or additional experience. If you have the resources, creating a VIP experience for attendees is a great opportunity for event organizers to attract new attendees and make more money from your current audience.
3) Tiered + Early Bird Ticketing
Implementing some form of tiered ticket prices has many benefits, namely encouraging people to buy tickets early rather than last minute. This benefits you as an organizer, because you can grab customers right when they see the event- instead of later, as they could potentially forget about your awesome event! Tiers also make your event seem more appealing and exclusive if you are displaying ‘Sold Out’ tiers. Also - repeat event attendees who are aware of your early bird specials can be rewarded by taking advantage of the discounts.

4) Multi + Single Day Passes
Multi and single day passes are used when an event spans more than one day and you would like to offer the option for attendees to choose which day or days they would like to attend. This can be helpful for attendees who may not be able to attend a certain day due to scheduling or financial reasons.
We recommend setting up your multi and single day passes in what we call a Bundle type ticket. Bundling tickets allows you to distribute multiple ticket types under one “parent” ticket within a purchase.
When creating a bundled ticket, you must create each ticket type first, so they appear as available tickets to tie to the parent bundled ticket type. This is a great feature for issuing multi-day passes, group buying deals, packages with multiple ticket types inside, etc. Learn more details on creating ticket bundles!
5) Free + RSVP Only Events
For organizers hosting free events, we always suggest creating an RSVP option. This helps you gauge who will be attending the event, as well as retain valuable customer data which you can use for future events.
NIGHTOUT never charges for posting free events, but still works for you by providing a unique event page and the opportunity to collect guest information and manage check in. For a free event, simply create an event and add a ticket type that is marked as “Free Ticket.” NIGHTOUT will never tack on a service fee for a free event.
You will still be able to limit your ticket quantity, create a guest list, ask your guest’s information and take advantage of all of NIGHTOUT’s useful features.
